How much is 3/4 of a cup? Half a 3/4 cup is ⅜ cup. Here is the simple calculation:

What Is Half Of 1/3 Cup? Simple Ways To Halve Ingredients

1/2 of 3/4 cup in a teaspoon equals 18 teaspoons. I don’t recommend measuring out that many teaspoons of dry ingredients in baking recipes. Use a kitchen scale (not a volumetric) to measure flour, sugar, etc. for maximum accuracy.

3/4 are different. 3/4 is greater than 1/2. 3/4 is actually 1.5 times 1/2.

3/4 teaspoon halved equals ⅜ teaspoon. You can measure 1.5 times with 1/4 teaspoon.

When baking, I generally recommend using a kitchen scale to measure out dry ingredients rather than volume measurements for more accurate measurements. You can use a measuring cup and spoon for cooking and for measuring 1/2 3/4 cup of liquid when baking. My single-serving measuring cup has a fill line on the inside that measures 3/4 cup.

How Many Cups In A Quart? (+ Conversion Guide!)

The answer to this question depends on what is being measured, since 3/4 cup is a measure of volume and grams are a measure of weight. The broth gets heavier (in grams), thicker for every 3/4 cup. Half a 3/4 cup of water is approximately 90 grams (0.09 kg) of water.

1/2 of 3/4 cup butter is about 84 grams. (However, if your recipe calls for this ingredient, it’s easier to snip 6 tablespoons from a stick of butter.)

1/2 of 3/4 cup all-purpose flour is about 45 grams or 6 tablespoons. (Remember, for dry measurements, it’s best to get out your kitchen scale!)

How much is half of a 3/4 cup of liquid? 1/2 of 3/4 cup equals 88.72ml of liquid ingredients. If you have a measuring cup in milliliters, use this liquid measurement conversion to calculate half of 3/4 cup of milk, water, oil, vinegar, honey, and other wet ingredients.

At some point in your cooking and baking journey, there’s a good chance you’ll need to cut a recipe in half.

Maybe you don’t think you can have an entire pan of marbled cookie brownies so you want to make small batches. 😉 Or maybe it’s just you and your significant other for Thanksgiving dinner this year, so you just need to bake some croissants.

Maybe you haven’t used fractions and decimals for a long time, but that doesn’t mean matching quantities will be difficult.

The size of these spoons and cups usually doubles with volume, so standard measuring cup sets usually include 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup, 1 cup, and sometimes 1/3 cup.

With the above information, it’s easy to create nice, even amounts in halves, such as a full or half cup.

This is because 3/4 cup is the same as 0.75 cup. If you divide 0.75 by half, you get 0.375

Personally, I don’t think a few percent of a cup makes a huge difference in most recipes, so I usually halve the 3/4 cup to 1/3 cup.

How Many Ounces In A Pint?

Since 1/3 cup equals 5 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon (or 16 teaspoons total), we can halve that to 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons (equals 8 teaspoons total).

Since our measuring cups are usually no smaller than 1/4 cup, how do you divide that amount in half?

This one is a little easier. Since 1/4 cup equals 4 tablespoons, we can easily halve it down to 2 tablespoons.

The conversion table below shows common measurements, 1/2 and 1/3 quantities. This is perfect for when you have to forego a recipe!

Wet ingredients, especially liquids like water, oil, and vinegar, are measured using a liquid measuring cup rather than a standard dry ingredient measuring cup.

For wet ingredients that are particularly thick or gooey, like sour cream or peanut butter, you may find it easier to use a dry ingredient measuring cup (which is what I usually use).

The table above applies to halving the wet ingredients as well as halving the dry ingredients.

If you’ve ever wanted to cut a recipe in half that calls for an egg, you know how tricky these situations can be!

To cut an egg in half, I always crack it open in a small bowl or coffee mug. Beat the eggs with a fork or whisk until the yolks and whites are well combined.

Next, I measured out 2 tablespoons of the egg mixture for half of the eggs in my recipe.

Cutting a stick of butter in half is actually easier than you think! Most butter sticks are marked with a spoon on the packaging.

The stick can easily be cut in half with these package markers. Since there are 8 tablespoons in a stick of butter, you need to cut off at the 4 tablespoon mark.

You may know it from science class because it contained units of measure in grams and liters (and their smaller and larger increments like milligrams, kilograms, milliliters, etc.).

As a former science teacher and registered nurse, I’ve become very proficient in the metric system – but I still rely on the American cup-and-spoon system for cooking and baking.

However, if you’re using a metric recipe, you can simply halve the ingredients by halving the quantity.

For example, 500 grams is halved to 250 grams. Likewise, 250 ml is reduced to 125 ml.

You can place the measuring cup or bowl on the scale, reset the scale to zero, and then add the ingredients into the measuring cup or bowl.

Watch the numbers on the scale closely and add more or less as needed when they reach the desired amount.

If you don’t already have a kitchen scale, you can always do a workaround by converting your metric measurements to the US cup and spoon system, and then use our chart to adjust the ingredients by half if necessary.

This method is obviously more labor intensive, but if you don’t have a kitchen scale it’s also useful in a pinch.

What Is Half And Half (and How To Make It From Scratch!)

Honestly, I survived many years without a kitchen scale. However, I’ve had it for a few years and find it useful.

On the plus side, kitchen scales are relatively inexpensive. It’s available on Amazon for less than $20, so it’s worth it even for casual use.

But if you’re like me and most of your recipes are measured in cups and spoons, I’d say it’s not necessary, but might help.
