What Is Half Of A 1/4 Cup – Here’s how to make half the recipe and a free printable with all the measurements you need to make it work in your kitchen. Time to bake!
Have you ever wanted to make a delicious bread or casserole, but you don’t have much time at home. Sometimes it can be confusing how to make half a recipe. SO, since I’ve had a few moments like this, I’ve created this free printable for all of us to have on hand! (published March 21, affiliate links available)
What Is Half Of A 1/4 Cup
I mean, you can figure out how much half a cup is, but 1/3 cup of sugar cut in half? Of course, sometimes it’s too soon if you want some cookies!
How Many Ounces In A Cup (liquid And Dry Measurements)
Many times this happens in our life. When the kids are gone and my husband and I want a batch of brownies or maybe some homemade spaghetti sauce.
Now, there are few things that can be trickier than dry ingredients. If you’re cutting a recipe in half with an odd number of large eggs, we’ve got the answer for that too!
If you have to cut the recipe in half, like our popular Corn Casserole recipe, it’s a bit tricky when 3 eggs are called for. Remember, 1 large egg equals 1/4 cup, so 1/4 cup cut in half would be 2 tablespoons. You will find it in the table below. 😉
So you can use 1 as usual, then fold the second egg into a liquid measuring cup and scoop out 2 Tbsp. this to add to your meal.

Some people don’t, or they may need a free-range egg recipe. In this case, there are a few things you can use instead of 2 tbsp. Your recipe should look something like this:
The dry ingredients listed in the recipe like sugar, baking soda, vanilla, flour, etc… are easy to use for printing. One thing to remember: it is VERY IMPORTANT to measure the flour correctly.
Otherwise, this unpleasant dense pastry will come out of the oven. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get down to why you’re here. To cut the full recipe in half, you’ll need the one printed below.
You will want to use the same oven temperature. The cooking time will not be cut in half, as it seems, it will take you a long time. For example, if the cooking time was 40 minutes, you will need 25-30 minutes.
Half And Half Substitute
Check after 5-10 minutes after the break and add another 5 minutes until everything is done. Then write down the appropriate time on the recipe card.
Now when it comes to the size of the pan, you’ll want it to be small as well. If I normally use a 9 x 13″ square, I usually choose an 8 x 8″ or 9 x 9″ square instead (whichever is really neat or pretty).
And you have it all!! I even created a printable kitchen measurement conversion chart to keep on hand. Now, if you’re struggling with 3/4 cup, you can just look at this list and keep going!

What Is Half Of 3/4 Cup In Cooking| Tips To Measure 3/4 Cup
These spoons and cups usually double as they go up, so a standard set of measuring cups usually includes 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup, 1 cup, and sometimes 1/3 cup.
Using the information above, it’s easy to accurately cut even intermediate numbers, such as a full or half cup.
This is because 3/4 cup is the same as 0.75 cup. If 0.75 is divided in half, then 0.375 will be obtained, i.e
Personally, I don’t think a few hundredths of a cup will make much of a difference for most recipes, so I usually reduce the 3/4 cup to 1/3 cup.
Splenda Brown Sugar Blend
Since 1/3 cup equals 5 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon (or 16 tablespoons total), we can break that down into 2 tablespoons AND 2 teaspoons (8 teaspoons total).
Since our measuring cups are usually no smaller than 1/4 cup, how do we cut that amount in half?
It’s a little easier. Since 1/4 cup is 4 tablespoons, we can easily cut it in half to 2 tablespoons.
The conversion chart below shows standard sizes as well as 1/2 price and 1/3 price. This is perfect for when you need to shorten a recipe!

Wet ingredients, especially liquids such as water, oil, vinegar, etc., are measured in liquid measuring cups instead of dry ingredient measuring cups.
For thick or creamy wet ingredients like sour cream or peanut butter, you may find it easier to use a dry ingredient measuring cup (which is what I usually do).
The chart above still works for halving the wet ingredients as it does for halving the dry ingredients.
If you’ve ever wanted to reduce a recipe that costs 1 egg, you know how difficult these conditions can be!
How To Half, Double And Triple Recipes
To split one egg in half, I always crack it into a small bowl or coffee cup. Using a fork or a whisk, beat the egg until the yolk and white are well combined.
I then measure out 2 tablespoons of the egg mixture to use as the egg component in my recipe.
