If you’re following a recipe from an American cookbook or website, the ingredients are usually measured in the United States Customary System (USCS or USC). Canada and Australia use the metric system. Meanwhile, the British Empire system is used across the basin. No matter which system is used, ¾ cup contains 12 tablespoons, as shown below:
As you can see in the table, there is very little difference between the US legal systems and the US common law systems. On the other hand, if you follow an American recipe but use the metric or British imperial system, things can go very wrong. Below you will learn how to transfer the conversion between systems.

You may come across a recipe that calls for ¾ cup of an ingredient. It can be a liquid substance such as water, oil or vanilla extract. ¾ cup can also be used to measure dry ingredients such as flour, oats or cocoa powder.
It is not possible to convert ¾ cup to ounces because a cup is a measure of volume and an ounce is a measure of weight. For example, one cup of sugar weighs more than one cup of sugar.
When it comes to cups, teaspoons, and tablespoons, there is no difference between wet and dry ingredients. However, it is recommended to use a liquid measuring cup for wet ingredients. For dry ingredients, use a dry measuring cup or weigh them with a kitchen scale.

Personally, I don’t think a few hundredths of a cup makes much of a difference in most recipes, so I usually halve the 3/4 cup to 1/3 cup.
Since 1/3 cup is 5 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon (or 16 teaspoons total), we can halve to 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons (which equals 8 teaspoons total).
Since our measuring cups are usually no less than 1/4 cup, how do you halve that amount?
This is a little easier because 1/4 cup is 4 tablespoons, so we can easily cut it in half to 2 tablespoons.
