# Kilometers To Mph

Kilometers To Mph – As a running coach, treadmill pace charts and pace calculators are frequently used tools. Basically, I chose this career because I’m a sports physiology geek. But the math? Well that’s not my strongest skill.

When you can’t count anymore – when you know you’ve run enough*.”

## Kilometers To Mph

Even if you’re not pushing your lactate threshold, quickly calculating and converting your running speed from miles per hour on the treadmill to minutes per mile or kilometers per mile can be difficult. So, I thought I’d share some of my favorite tools for calculating and changing tempo together in one post for other non-math enthusiasts.

#### How To Display Mph

The treadmill tempo conversion made me dizzy. I want more display on the treadmill showing MPH and min/mile pace at the same time. But hey, it’s a runner’s problem, am I right?

This treadmill speed conversion chart will allow you to convert your speed from miles per hour, to kilometers per hour, to minutes per mile, to minutes per kilometer, and back.

Is the graph above too weak? Contact! Too many numbers on one page drives me crazy! Below you will find two separate treadmill speed charts, one for Imperial (miles), one for Metric (kilometers) that will quickly help with your running speed conversion needs.

Need to quickly convert miles per hour to minutes per mile, without requiring a metric system conversion? Use the chart below!

If you prefer to use the metric system and want to convert min per km to km per hour (or vice versa), this chart is for you:

Convert km to miles: Multiply the distance in kilometers by 0.62137 to find the distance in miles.

Convert miles to km: Multiply the distance in miles by 1.609344 to find the distance in kilometers.

You may have heard the well-known advice that you should always set the incline of the treadmill to at least 1% to prevent “lack of wind resistance” when running on the treadmill versus outside, and that running on the treadmill at 0% is easier than running on it. the same pace outside. But is it true?

Researchers at the University of Brighton in England tested the theory and found that the difference in oxygen cost between running outside and running on a treadmill at a 0% incline was greatest at speeds over 8 mph (7:30 per mile). ), and can cause a significant difference in overall effort and heart rate (source). So yes, adding 1% more incline can mimic a fast indoor walk.

I have seen this graph replicated several times, with reference to McMillan Running, as well as data from a study from the late 1990s, again on HillRunner.com in the early 2000s. U

After all, I could not find a decent source or formula used to generate this number. So be aware that the steps listed below are only approximate and represent effort, not a guarantee of walking at the same pace when on a flat road.

Do you need to do some crazy math that these charts can’t help with? Kontam. This is a free online calculator that I use not only for treadmill math, but also for general running pace and estimated finish times.

Active Pace Calculator: This has been my go-to for years, when the pace calculator is owned by CoolRunning. I like to use this particular pace calculator to find out how fast I need to run 100 miles to beat the cutoff time (joke/no joke)

RunBundle: I don’t know who runs this site, or if it has been updated in the last 5+ years. But the speed/walk converter calculator is very easy to use and gives you a lot of information at once.
