How Many Cups In A Quart, A Pint, Or A Gallon?

Did you know that there are two types of measuring cups? There is one for dry ingredients such as sugar and flour and one for liquids such as oil, water or milk.

Dry measuring cups should be level with for example a butter knife. Whereas liquid measuring cups have a small spout that is for pouring out water, so you can’t overfill it. You will find measurements on the side of the cup with lines, measuring up to the top of the measuring cup.

Depending on the dry material will depend on how you measure it. Most of the time for things like brown sugar, you will pour the sugar tightly into the measuring cup. Regular sugar, rice, oats, you’ll pour it in until your measuring cup is full or take it out of the bag.

For the flour, you will take a small spoon and scoop the flour into the correct measuring cup. Be sure not to pour it tightly into the cup.

If you do, you will end up with too much flour and you may leave your mixture too dry and your recipe may not come out right.
