Cooking Ribs In The Oven How Long – Oven Roasted Ribs are such an easy and flawless way to cook boneless ribs without grilling or smoking! Cooking ribs in the oven is a great way to feed a crowd or beat the heat!

I based this recipe on my other favorite way to cook ribs (see: Smoked Baby Back Ribs) and they are SO, SO good! I know not everyone has a smoker, but this is such an easy way to make oven baked ribs at home that are tender and juicy! Feel free to try our homemade BBQ sauce or use your favorite store brand. Some of our favorite sides to serve with them are corn on the cob, baked beans, creamy coleslaw, and cornbread muffins for a delicious meal!

No Ribs should not be washed or rinsed before cooking. According to the USDA, this is not recommended because it can increase the risk of cross-contamination.

How To Make Ribs In The Oven

Yes, you must remove the membrane from the ribs before cooking. If you don’t remove it, the ribs will be much harder to cut after cooking and more difficult to eat (see photo below).

Many prepackaged ribs have the membrane already removed, but if you bought the ribs directly from the butcher, it may be there (but you can always ask them before you buy, and if it’s still there, ask them to remove it for you! ). The membrane is a thin layer on the back of the ribs that is white (fresh). Just take the tip of the knife, lift the corner and slowly pull it out! easy! (See image below)

This recipe takes about 6 hours to cook the ribs in the oven. Ultimately, you want your ribs to reach an internal temperature of 190 – 200 degrees F. The ribs are safe to eat when they reach 145 degrees F, but the meat will be too tough. When the meat reaches an internal temperature of 190 – 200 degrees F., the meat becomes tender and juicy!

Ribs do not need to be covered when cooking. They have enough natural fat that separates during cooking. You CAN cover them with aluminum foil, but this may affect the cooking time. We do not recommend covering with foil for this recipe.

Sous Vide Barbecue Pork Ribs Recipe

Ribs are usually cooked at 225-275 degrees F. In this recipe, we start at a low temperature of 225 degrees F. and gradually increase the temperature until it eventually reaches 275 degrees F. Then, at the end, we increase it to 350 degrees F. to caramelize the BBQ sauce (you can also broil them for a minute or two instead if you prefer)!

Turn the ribs meat side down. If the membrane is still attached, use a sharp knife to lift the thin membrane away from the ribs, then continue to lift and pull until the entire layer comes off.

Place on a foil-lined baking sheet and cook according to the recipe card below! Don’t forget to slather on your favorite BBQ sauce at the end!

Let rest 5-10 minutes, then enjoy (cover or wrap ribs in tin foil while they rest)!

Can you have too many ways to cook ribs? I don’t think so! I’ve perfected my slow cooker BBQ ribs and pressure cooker ribs so I thought it was time to find the best way to cook baby back ribs in the oven.

These oven-roasted ribs start with house-made seasonings and are slow-roasted in tin foil for incredible flavor and tender texture.

They’re finished with a few minutes under the broiler on high and plenty of BBQ sauce for even more moisture and a perfect crisp.

The result is tender, juicy, incredibly delicious baby backs that the whole family will come back for in seconds! Just don’t forget the deep-fried potatoes, homemade coleslaw, and quick baked beans!

I find the best ribs are cooked at 300ºF for 2-3 hours and then broiled at 475ºF for 3-4 minutes. The shorter, slower cooking time achieves that tender consistency, while the last few minutes at a higher temperature contribute to the crispy exterior!

It depends on the size of the ribs you are cooking. If they are 2-3 pounds, check them after 2 hours. If they are 3-4 pounds, check them after 2.5 hours. You’ll know they’re ready when the meat falls off the bone.

Although the pork is cooked to a safe internal temperature of 150 degrees Fahrenheit, really tender ribs require a little more time in the oven.

How To Grill Baby Back Ribs On A Gas Grill

Yes The best way is to wrap the ribs in foil while they are baking to trap moisture and prevent the outside from burning. Once they are cooked, you can remove the foil before baking to get a nice and crispy outside.

Leftover roast ribs are stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days or in the freezer for 2-3 months. To reheat, cover with additional barbecue sauce for moisturization, wrap in foil, and reheat at 275ºF for 20-30 minutes or until heated through. When they are cooked, you can remove the foil and fry them for 2-3 minutes to make them crispy.
