I asked my followers on social media how they fill their cup. Scoop several ingredients out of a bowl like flour or sugar and then flatten them, so I took this approach when measuring similar ingredients for my calculator. I also like to apply a little pressure to the bag before any lumps break up.
Most conversion charts list 1 cup of flour as 120 grams. However, the only way I’ve found to achieve this is to knead the dough and then use a spoon to fill the bowl with flour. I don’t know about you, but I prefer to measure the dough, not pre-cook it. So in my conversions, you’ll find that a cup of flour weighs more because it reflects how I fill the cup.
For ingredients in smaller bowls, I pour them straight from the bowl into the cup and flatten it.

For soft ingredients like butter or cream cheese, I spoon it into the bowl with the back of a spoon to make sure any gaps are filled and then flatten it.

The official US cup size is 236.588ml. , but most cups available for purchase in stores measure it as 240ml for the sake of simplicity. (this is what I assumed in my calculator). However, some cup makers sell 250 ml cups (but keep the half cup to 120 ml!).
It’s not a big problem until you know you have it. One major problem is that not all cups sold are very accurate.
I have two sets of measuring cups, and neither of them hold the volume they should. I have 65 ml in ¼ cup in one set. (it should be 60ml), but the whole cup holds only 225ml. comes while it is 240 ml. Should be (don’t worry I’ve adjusted everything here to make sure it’s correct for the correct size cup).

Gram is a unit of weight used in the metric system of measurement. There are one thousand milligrams in one gram. Most countries use the metric system, which measures weight in grams and kilograms.
