Liquid and dry ingredients measure differently and should be used in their designed measuring cups. The US and the metric system also measure slightly differently. US is in ounces and pounds and metric is in milliliters, liters and grams, so use the appropriate measuring tools. Today, metric cups are commonly used instead of imperial cups. If recipes are given in millimeters and grams, they are metric measurements.
How many liters in a gallon or a cup? It all starts with measuring correctly. To measure dry and liquid ingredients correctly, make sure you use a liquid measuring cup or a dry measuring cup. To measure in dry ingredients, use a spoon and scoop flour into a dry measuring cup. Using the back of a knife, scrape off the extra bits from the top and even out the measurement. Some recipes may even require you to shake the measuring cup to the top, so read the recipe directions accordingly.
You may also come across recipes online that are listed in grams instead of ounces. Moving from ounces to grams can be very confusing. So having this handy measurement conversion chart is handy to have around so you can quickly refer to it to know how to perform conversion measurements.

Quarts To Liters Conversion (qt To L)
Why aren’t they exactly the same? Quarts and liters come from different measurement systems. Although quarts is an imperial measurement, liters is a metric measurement.
One liter is 32 fluid ounces. The word quart comes from the Latin word Quartus meaning fourth and the later Old French word Quarte also meaning ¼ share. In fluid terms, this means ¼ gallon. The term gallon also comes from Rome which comes from the word Galleta or Galletum meaning wine jug. Apparently the Romans liked their wine in large containers.
In Rome everything was measured in 1/2s, 1/4s. 1/8s etc. This seems awkward today as the decimal metric system makes so much sense, but in Roman times 1/4 gallon ie. quart, easy to measure. A quart was obtained by dividing the contents into liters in a half-and-half jug again. Conversely, it was difficult to accurately divide 1/10 of a jug of wine. This logic is evident in all non-metric measurements today. Therefore, our imperialist measurement system is not illogical. It’s just Old School.
One liter is 33.8 fluid ounces. The liter was introduced in France in 1795 by the republican government after deposing the monarchy and all the paraphernalia associated with that government, and so began the metric system. In 1901, an international agreement was reached to define the liter as the volume used by 1 kg of pure water.

A quart is a unit of volume. A liter is equal to a quarter of a gallon or two pints. It is used in Imperial Measure and US Customary Measure. Abbreviation: qt.
In the UK 1 quart is approximately 1.13 liters and in the US 1 qt is approximately 0.94 litres.
The British quart system is the same for liquid and dry measurements: 1 quart is equal to 2 imperial pints, or ¼ imperial gallon.
A liquid US quart is equal to two liquid pints, or a quarter of a US gallon, and 1 dry quart is equal to 2 dry pints.

Originally, the quart was a medieval English unit of dry and liquid measure that varied between 0.95 and 1.16 liters, relatively close to the modern equivalent. In Geoffrey Chaucer’s Miller’s Tale (c. 1370) it was used as a measure of beer Encyclopaedia Brittanica What is
