Mr Podolyak added that all drones flying over locations in Russia were due to “guerrilla operations by local resistance forces”.
“Something is happening in the RF [Russian Federation], but certainly without Ukrainian drones over the Kremlin,” Mr Podoliak said.
He could not verify Russia’s accusation that Ukraine had tried to kill Mr Putin, but said the Russian president would take anything he said with a “very large grain of salt”.

Kissing bugs are blood-sucking insects found throughout the Western Hemisphere, including the United States, but also in the western Pacific, India, the Middle East, and parts of Africa. In America, these insects are known to harbor a parasite called Trypanosoma cruzi, which is the causative agent of an infection in humans and other mammals known as Chagas disease. The infection can be spread through kissing bug feces after skin-to-skin contact or ingestion of contaminated food or drink. Kissing insects will invade human homes and bite residents and their pets. Kissing bug bites can also cause severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. A life-threatening allergic reaction usually requires emergency medical attention. We describe a house invaded by kissing bugs in Northern California, where the residents developed severe allergic reactions to the bites. Kissing bugs were identified and blood tests revealed human blood as well as the presence of the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi. The resident underwent extensive testing for chronic Chagas disease due to repeated exposure to kissing bugs, but was found not to have the disease. Those living in areas where kissing bugs occur naturally should be aware that their bites can be highly allergenic.

Background: Triatoma protracta is a triatomine that occurs naturally in many parts of California and invades human settlements and bites residents. A man living in Mendocino County, California, said he developed an anaphylactic reaction after being bitten by an “unusual insect” he had found in his home for years. Methods: We conducted ecological, entomological, and clinical surveys to examine the risk of kissing beetle infestation, the presence of Trypanosoma cruzi, and Chagas disease concern with kissing bug infestation in this human population. Results: A home assessment revealed several risk factors for triatomine infestation, including pack rat infestations, wood planks without solid foundations, dogs living in the home, and non-use of residual pesticides. Triatomines are all known as Tritoma protracta. Molecular analysis of the midgut of collected triatomine bugs revealed that among the kissing bugs T. A distinct typing unit I of cruzi was observed.
